Scoop D'Jour: Coffee, Ice Cream, and Smiles
If your wedding weekend includes children—or simply anyone with a sweet tooth—Scoop D'Jour is an easy recommendation. While many locals know it for its delicious ice cream, the coffee menu deserves just as much attention.
Their specialty coffee drinks, hot chocolate, and espresso beverages pair perfectly with homemade treats, making it an excellent stop for families or bridal parties looking for a relaxed atmosphere before wedding festivities begin.
Because they also serve ice cream, Scoop D'Jour becomes a fun destination regardless of the season. It's one of those rare places where someone can order a caramel latte while another person enjoys a sundae, making everyone happy.
This local coffee shop is fantastic on wedding mornings. We pick up trays of donuts, muffins and pastries to lay out for the wedding party and can’t hear enough great things about their coffee.
And, I am not sure what time their bar opens, but they do have a liquor license. That being said, would you like to add a little Kalua to that coffee?

Grab a Java: A Springfield Favorite
Few names are more recognizable among Springfield coffee lovers than Grab a Java. With three convenient locations throughout the city, it's often the easiest stop no matter where you're staying.
Known for friendly baristas, locally roasted coffee, smoothies, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and specialty espresso drinks, Grab a Java offers something for every member of your wedding group.
If you're headed downtown, the 6th street location is perfect before sightseeing around the Old State Capitol or Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.
Guests staying (or shopping) on Springfield's west side will appreciate the Hedley Road location. And, directions can’t get any easier than this for Monroe’s location: Turn left out of Pole Barn Chic and turn right into their parking lot, just a few miles down the road.
Whether you're grabbing a quick drip coffee before hair and makeup or lingering over a latte with friends catching up before the rehearsal dinner, Grab a Java fits easily into any wedding itinerary.
1702 S. 6th St.
3115 Hedley Rd.
300 Chatham Rd.
Most locations are open early each morning, making them ideal for wedding-day coffee runs.
Papo's Café: More Than Great Food
Although Papo's Café is best known throughout Springfield for its outstanding menu locals know it's also a surprisingly wonderful place to enjoy coffee.
Located in on Springfield’s west side, Papo's offers a welcoming atmosphere where guests (and their little dogs, too!) can slow down after exploring Springfield or before heading to evening wedding festivities.
Pair a fresh cup of coffee with their famous Bro toast or Acai Bowl, enjoy lunch with family members who have traveled from out of town, or stop in for dinner after touring downtown Springfield. Their comfortable and spacious dining room makes it easy to spend extra time visiting with loved ones—a luxury that often becomes the best part of any wedding weekend.
And PS – Their biscuits and gravy are delicious and very reminiscent of B&G Café, from way back.
Hours: Open 7 days a week, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Fireside Café at West Side Christian Church
One of Springfield's hidden gems is the Fireside Café located inside West Side Christian Church.
Open to both church attendees and community members during operating hours, this inviting coffee shop offers a comfortable environment that feels more like a neighborhood gathering place than a typical café.
The relaxed seating areas make it an excellent location to meet family before the ceremony, catch up with old friends who have traveled into town, or simply enjoy a peaceful moment with a handcrafted coffee.
Many visitors are pleasantly surprised by the quality of the espresso drinks and the welcoming atmosphere. If your wedding weekend extends through Sunday morning, it's a wonderful place to begin the day before heading home.
It may not have a drive thru, and it may not be the closest to the highway, but if you have ever had coffee here, you know why it’s worth the trip. Plus, they don’t just have coffee. They serve kid meals, fruit, cheese, Gatorade, bagels, quiche, soda, milk, etc.
The Fireside café reminds me of a cross between Starbucks and Panera Bread, but better.
Heading Home? Stop in Lincoln at Guest House Coffee & Pastries
As your memorable weekend at Pole Barn Chic comes to a close, consider taking the scenic route home with one final stop in Lincoln, Illinois.
Guest House Coffee & Pastries, located in the heart of Lincoln's historic downtown, has quickly become a favorite destination for travelers and locals alike.
The warm, inviting atmosphere makes you feel at home the moment you walk through the door. Fresh pastries, handcrafted espresso drinks, seasonal specials, and comfortable seating encourage guests to slow down before getting back on the road.
Plus, one of the best things about this coffee shop? It was voted best cinnamon rolls in Illinois. And, yes, I can attest, they are the best. Buying their pastries, quiche, raisin bread, scones and more, my family of 8 couldn’t find anything we didn’t like.
Whether you're driving north toward Bloomington-Normal or continuing toward the Chicago area, Guest House Coffee & Pastries is an ideal farewell stop after celebrating a beautiful wedding weekend. It's the perfect opportunity to reflect on wonderful memories while enjoying one last exceptional cup of coffee.
One of the most unique details about this shop is the small walkway you can walk thru. Blink and you’ll miss it but walk thru and find yourself on the other side of the coffee house wall. In here is not only more seating, but also a man. This man sits at a desk wearing headphones, working on his laptop. What is he doing, you ask? Grinding fresh coffee beans, of course!
